8BitDo Reveals New Retro Themed Mechanical Keyboards

8Bitdo Retro Mechanical Keyboard

The brand new 8Bitdo Retro Mechanical Keyboard is an awesome retro inspired peripheral that offers a ton of unique elements.

The “N Edition” and “Fami Edition” models clearly take aesthetic cues from the original Nintendo Entertainment System and Famicom home consoles.

The NES appeared on the Retro Dodo list of the best retro games consoles, and it also happened to the very first video game system that I owned.

So it kind of goes without saying that we are absolutely dying to get our hands on one of these new offerings from one of the best third-party peripheral makers.

And luckily, we won’t have to wait too long, as they are available for pre-order starting today!

What do you even say about a mechanical keyboard inspired by the NES and Famicom? “Awesome!” … “Heck yeah!” … “Need it!”

Obviously the retro inspiration hits close to home for any long time video game enthusiast.

These new mechanical keyboards offer high quality keys while also offering something quite unique.

The 8Bitdo Retro Mechanical Keyboards feature an 87-key layout with Kailh Box V2 switches (white) and PBT keycaps.

There are also two unique knobs at the top left of the device for controlling the connection mode and volume. As well as three programmable buttons at the top, and the iconic “A+B” button combo at the bottom (also programmable).

The mechanical keyboards can be connected to your Windows PC or Android device via Bluetooth, wireless 2.4G, or wired. (Compatible with Windows 10(1903) or above and Android 9.0 or above.)

Dual Super Buttons

As if the mechanical keyboards were not already enough to satisfy, 8BitDo has also created a really fun Dual Super Buttons attachment.

And it is exactly what it sounds like: two giant programmable buttons for your desktop setup.

They even offer a set of stickers if you want to label your giant buttons.

Me personally, I’d leave them as is, like two giant A+B buttons from an NES controller.

The Dual Super Buttons connect to the keyboard via a wire, and you can connect up to four sets of super buttons.
