The constant searching for news and scrolling through the Nintendo eShop is finally over; Super Mario 64 is finally coming to Nintendo Switch.
Just take a moment to soak that in…All that time spent searching for the best retro handhelds to play the best Mario title of all time, and now you can play it on the go and in the comfort of your living room from the same device.
Super Mario 64 was Mario’s first solo 3D outing, and thanks to Super Mario 3D All-Stars, the new Nintendo Switch Release that you can pre-order right now, you can play the original game in updated HD.
Instead of dusting off your original N64 remote and practising your ‘crab claw’ controller hold, you can take advantage of the super-smooth Joycon controls. Koopa the Quick won’t stand a chance when I race him now!

What Other Games Come In The Package?
Super Mario 64 isn’t the only title that is getting an updated release. Fans of Nintendo’s plucky plumber can revisit two other incredible adventures: Super Mario Sunshine (one of the best GameCube games of all time), and Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo Wii).
For a die-hard Nintendo fan like me, this is amazing news. Three of the best games of my childhood and teen years being re-released so I can play them on the go. It doesn’t get much better than this! Updated HD graphics, improved picture resolution (and not just the ones that you jump through in Super Mario 64), and rumble features for each game.
It’s a dream come true!
What are these games?
If you haven’t ever played them, then I question your commitment to gaming. But, we’re not here to judge (Brandon keeps reminding me that there are other consoles out there…), so here’s a little intro to each game.
Super Mario 64
Mysterious paintings are hidden around Peaches castle. Mario must jump into them and travel through different worlds collecting power stars to open new areas of the castle. There are hat upgrades and lots of secrets to uncover along the way.
Super Mario Sunshine
Instead of having a nice holiday on Delfino Isle, Mario has to track down an imposter posing as Mario who is covering the island in paint and graffiti. Using FLUDD (a water jetpack), he has to clean up the island and clear his name, kicking ass at the same time.
Super Mario Galaxy
Not content with trying to steal Peach and overthrowing her as the leader of the Mushroom Kingdom, Bowser now wants to rule the universe. If you liked Super Mario Odyssey, then you’ll love Galaxy. It’s filled with planet-hopping madness and gravity-defying action.
As well as these three classic games, you can also access a Music Player with over 170 tunes from these three classic games. Whether you’re on the bus or cleaning the living room, you can take a trip down memory lane with the tunes that made each Super Mario 64 level so incredibly addictive.
I can still hum the Bob-Omb Battlefield tune now!
How Do I Get Hold Of Super Mario 64 On Nintendo Switch?
Pre-orders are open right now for those that want to download the game digitally. If you’re wanting to wait for an actual cartridge, then you’ll have to keep your eyes peeled on the site that you usually buy your games from.
The game has an RRP of £49.99 here in the UK which is a steal for three of the best titles that Nintendo have ever made.
