Your Nintendo Switch could be about to get a heck of a lot quicker; it’s time to get ready for F-Zero GX Remastered!
It’s been a long while since we’ve heard anything about a new F-Zero game or sniffed out any rumours on the internet. But, as ever, good things come to those who wait, and we’ve been patiently waiting with our ears to the ground to hear the rumblings of the Blue Falcon zooming past once more for some time now.
Mario Kart 8 might be the best selling video game of all time, but F-Zero GX is definitely the fastest racer in existence.
The story mode, the characters, the crashes – it had it all and more, and we are incredibly excited about the prospect of a remastered version heading to the Switch.
So, here’s everything we know, suspect, and are hoping for in Captain Falcon’s next outing!

What Is F-Zero GX?

F-Zero GX first zoomed into our lives at breakneck speeds back in 2003. It was one of the best GameCube games for the console, featuring a whopping 30 characters in each race.
That’s like a Royal Rumble at insane speeds, on tracks with more loop-the-loops than ten theme parks put together!
GX was the last main F-Zero console game to drop, which means we haven’t had a new F-Zero game in 20 years at the time of writing.
Yet the series still has loyal fans, and Captain Falcon has become a solid stalwart of the Smash Bros series in recent years too.
If F-Zero came back to the fold on the Switch, it could be the most exciting racing game of our generation!
What Can We Expect From F-Zero GX Remastered Gameplay?

The Switch has seen some futuristic racers in the form of Fast RMX and a reboot of Episode 1: Racer, but F-Zero GX is in a league of its own entirely.
As this is a remastered version of the GameCube classic, we’re expecting all of the same courses from the previous game to make an appearance. Still, it’s highly possible that we’ll see a few parts of the course twisted around or mirrored as in the newer Mario Kart courses just to throw hardcore fans off balance (or off the edge of the course entirely).
F-Zero GX was known for its amazing attention to detail; you’ve only got to look at the still above to understand that! Just imagine what the fire and mountains are going to look like in a HD version; it’ll look real enough to step through your TV into.
Although I wouldn’t like to be mowed down by Mr. EAD travelling faster than a speeding bullet on steroids though!
The Main F-Zero GX Remastered Rumours

The main rumour that we’ve all got to keep in our minds is that Next Level Games is already working on this title. That means that we could be seeing this game incredibly quickly, especially as all of the raw material for F-Zero GX already exists!
While the gameplay, racetracks, and characters won’t change dramatically from the original title, we’re confident that there will be some additional courses available to play, perhaps with some tracks from previous F-Zero games making an appearance in the same vain as the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe DLC tracks.
Another thing we’d love to see is an online multiplayer. This is something that’s definitely going to appear in F-Zero GX Remastered, and frankly we can’t wait for the carnage.
Of course, we’re assuming that the remastered title is going to be heading to us via a Nintendo Switch cartridge, but this could herald the arrival of GameCube games on the Nintendo Switch Online platform.
If F-Zero GX and Star Fox Adventures arrived on the Switch, then I would never leave the house!
F-Zero GX Remastered Release Date

F-Zero GX Remastered should be sitting in our Nintendo Switch consoles by Fall 2024.
If Next Level games are already working on the remake, then I think we can safely say that it won’t be long until the the remastered GameCube classic is with us.
2023 seems a little too soon for this title to come out, especially since we haven’t seen any trailers dropping yet.
Having said that though, Nintendo shadow dropped Metroid Prime: Remastered, so we could be in for another surprise.
Still, if all goes to plan, then the Silent Hill 2 Remake won’t be the only title we’re putting on our wishlist for 2024!
What Is F-Zero GX?
F-Zero GX is a GameCube racing game that came out in 2003. It features 30 futuristic racers and crafts, and boasts insanely high speeds.
This definitely isn’t Mario Kart; you’ll need to keep your wits about you and not smash into the edge or other people if you want to get ahead in this game!
How Fast Do F-Zero Cars Travel?
F-Zero Cars travel at speeds of well over 1,000 km/h (around 620 mph).
So, if you think that travelling on the Autobahn is fast, then you’ve experienced nothing yet!
Who Is Captain Falcon?
Captain Falcon is the main protagonist in the F-Zero games and the main mascot of the series.
While many of you know him for his cry of ‘Falcoonnn Puuuunch’ in the Super Smash Bros. games, he started out his life in F-Zero on the SNES back in Japan in 1990!
Why Is F-Zero So Popular
F-Zero is so popular because of its high speeds, tough racecourses, futuristic style, and its tough difficulty level.
As I said above, this isn’t Mario Kart or Diddy Kong Racing – take your eye off the ball for a second and you’ll be in a million pieces before you can say ‘Falcoonnn Kiiiiick’.
When Is F-Zero GX Remastered Releasing?
F-Zero GX Remastered will likely be released in Fall 2024.
Seb Santabarbara has bought every Nintendo console that has ever been released in his 33 years on Planet Earth. His favourite game franchise is Zelda, and he’s patiently waiting for Banjo-Kazooie to come back to the fold. When he’s not playing games, he’s travelling the world in his self-converted camper van.
