LEGO leaks always get me excited, and if you had told me back when I was playing with the classic red bucket as a kid and my dad was stepping on the pieces in his socks that I'd be telling you about a new Mario Arcade set coming our way, I would have lost my tiny little mind. Fast-forward a few years (ok, 30 years), and that's exactly what's happening.

LEGO Leaker @lego_minecraft_goat has posted the news that a new Mario Arcade Machine is coming our way from the Danish blockbusters. If the leak is correct, then it will be one of the LEGO Collectors sets designed for over 18s, i.e., a display piece and not a toy. Though if the LEGO PAC-MAN arcade is anything to go by, then you will still be able to interact with it.

And while we don't know what Mario game it's going to be yet, the Retro Dodo team and pretty much the entirety of the internet are hoping as one that it's going to be Donkey Kong.

The original Donkey Kong arcade game is perhaps the most iconic arcade game of all time, or at least joint alongside Space Invaders and PAC-MAN. It would make the most sense for Nintendo and LEGO to pay homage to Jumpman's initial outing and give us some sort of set that allows barrels to roll down and Mario to do his trademark jump or hammer bash action.

The set, earmarked as number 72051, will be 1,367 pieces and retail at €169.99/$169.99 with a release this August. It might remain at £169.99 for us gamers here in the UK, or with the conversion rate, it might drop to £126.99. Either way, it's not a cheap set, but nowhere near as expensive as the Pokémon Kanto starters set - I still laugh at how much that set costs!

Here's hoping for a LEGO Donkey Kong set being announced soon. Let us know what features you would like to see, or if you would like a different game entirely, down in the comments!
